Jae | Senior Session | Bowling Green, KY

Where do I start with Jae? I've known him since he was in the 8th grade. That makes me feel old but in reality, I'm really not, it's just strange to know someone for so long. Jae has been in musicals and concerts for Warren East for a long time, the most recent playing the role of Sebastian in The Little Mermaid (He's in the blog image for shooting a musical, click here to read). Jae is a very talented singer and will be attending Western Kentucky University in the fall.

Shooting a Musical

I've had the chance to take photos of concerts and musicals for the past 5 years ( shout out to the wife for being a choir director!) and it never gets easier. Each performance has its challenges. There are lights going off left, right and sometimes not at all. Those lights can be a gamut of different colors and sometimes the camera will not process the color right, looking at you red.

Giving Back

This month I was able to take photos for the annual chocolate festival for Hospice of Southern Kentucky. This is one of their many fundraising events that occur throughout the year. Hospice of Southern Kentucky is a non-profit organization and has been in the area for 30 years providing hospice services to the surrounding counties. More information on them can be found at http://www.hospicesoky.org.

Prom 2016

Spring is here. Everything is turning green and becoming alive. Flowers are blooming and allergies are flaring up. Spring doesn't affect me and much as my wife and daughter, if it affects you, you have my sympathies. One thing that also comes with spring is prom. The age old event of tuxedos, corsages and dancing. That one time of year where you know you look good! What is a great way to remember how good you looked? Photos of course! I photographed 5 couples this prom season.

How It Started

When someone starts to do something, whether it is their profession or their hobby the question that is often asked by someone is "Why"? "Why did you start doing photography?", "How did it all begin?" I didn't grow up with a camera in my hand, I didn't even hold a DSLR until I was in college. Growing up the only time I used a camera was a disposable for a trip. Taking photos with it was fun but I didn't think anything of it.

Destiny Senior Session | Bowling Green, KY

This session was scheduled when there was rain every day for a week with one day of relief before it started up again. I wasn't sure if we'd be able to shoot but the weather held off. We didn't even see the sun although it was 3 in the afternoon but nonetheless great photos were made.

Jessie Senior Session | Bowling Green, KY

I've taken photos of Jessie before but this time it was for her senior pictures. We started early in the morning to avoid the sizzling August sun. She's a cheerleader so we did photos of her in uniform then went downtown and took some photos. I like the random alleys and indirect sunlight that the taller buildings in downtown areas give so it's always a nice spot. Here are some photos:
