Giving Back

This month I was able to take photos for the annual chocolate festival for Hospice of Southern Kentucky. This is one of their many fundraising events that occur throughout the year. Hospice of Southern Kentucky is a non-profit organization and has been in the area for 30 years providing hospice services to the surrounding counties. More information on them can be found at http://www.hospicesoky.org.

I connected with Hospice of Southern Kentucky last year for the chocolate festival and was asked to do it again. Where else can you get to take photos of a place full of sweets? As usual, the place was packed, people everywhere! There was a live band providing music and multiple booths set up, the local community college's culinary arts program was demonstrating how to make bananas foster. There was face painting, popcorn, cotton candy, a candy store for the kids to grab some more sugar (as if they aren't hyped enough) and of course chocolate. The main highlight of the event is the cookie eating contest. The contestants are local celebrities and they have 2 minutes to eat as many cookies as possible. The defending champion was in the contest again and he won it this year by eating 30 cookies! Unreal.

It was fun attending the chocolate festival again and I enjoy that I am able to use photography as a way to give back to the community. I've been trying to get into the YouTube game a little so I made a video, I hope you enjoy.
